The giant bench of Sant Jordi Desvalls is a fairly well-known tourist attraction in Girona.
It is part of the international Big Bench Community Project, which installs huge benches in places with good views so that people can sit there and enjoy the landscape “like when you were little with your legs dangling”.
From there you have very open views:
Pyrenees / Canigó
Montgrí
Gavarres
and even the sea on clear days.
Dimensions:
About 2.5 m high
About 3.5 m wide
When you sit there, your legs literally hang down, as if you were a small child.
Curiosities:
Inaugurated on April 23, 2022 (Sant Jordi).
It was the first giant bench in Catalonia and Spain within this network.
It was built by residents of the village with donations and local materials.
It is number 199 on the Big Bench world route.
