Can Mateu is an old farmhouse located in the municipality of Cabanelles.
It is currently in a dilapidated state, but it is still a very interesting place.
Also worth noting is the meadow that we find just before reaching the house. It is accessed by a slightly broken road —only suitable for 4x4s or high cars— that crosses the forest until it ends in a flat, quiet meadow with one of the best views of the Alt Empordà and a good part of the Baix Empordà. Without a doubt, a place worth making a mandatory stop if you are on a route through the Empordà.
I recommend going up via Lladó; it will take you approximately 15 minutes. Of course, you have to watch out for the protection dogs of the herds in the area. If you are responsible with the environment and know how to behave, you will not have any problems.
