01About the place
Castle remains atop a steep hill northeast of Roses.
Documented in 974 as Pinna Nigra in a donation by Count Gausfred I, it was probably built in the 10th century. It retains an irregular wall adapted to the terrain, a rectangular tower, and a double moat to the north; it has been a cultural asset of national interest since 1988.
