01About the place
The ruins of Navata Castle are located about 2 km southwest of the town, on a platform that drops off into a cliff above the Àlguema stream (Alt Empordà).
This 13th-century fortress passed to the Rocabertí family in 1249; it retains its western wall with a cylindrical tower about 10 m high, the moats, and the remains of the chapel of Sant Joan.
