01About the place
The Fontcalda church is the center of the small religious complex that is located in the canyon of the Canaletes river.
Although it seems very old, what we see today is relatively modern compared to the origin of the place.
Origin:
The place was already a sanctuary in the 14th century.
There was a primitive hermitage built next to the thermal spring.
It was a place of pilgrimage for people from Terra Alta and Matarraña.
The current church
The current building was built in the 18th century (approx. 1750).
