01About the place

Hidden among the vegetation of Ribelles de Dalt are the remains of the old Molí d’en Casamor, also known as Molí de Dalt, one of the two documented watermills in this part of the valley, along with the nearby Molí d’en Morató.

Despite its advanced state of disrepair, it still retains elements that allow us to understand its former function. Among the ruins, a large millstone and several structures related to water management can be seen. A deep vertical shaft, probably the millrace, stands out, through which the water flowed forcefully to power the mechanism that turned the millstones.

The mill was built practically next to the stream, whose water provided the energy needed to grind the grain for the farmhouses scattered throughout Ribelles. Today, the forest has completely reclaimed the site: large trees, roots, and moss are gradually covering the old walls, making some of its structures difficult to discern. It is a small vestige of the economic and agricultural system that sustained families in this isolated area of the Alta Garrotxa for generations.
