The Cathedral of Guarda, or Our Lady of Consolation (Guarda, Portugal), was erected by Sancho I of Portugal after he requested Pope Innocent III to transfer the Diocese of Egitania to the new city of Guarda.
Nothing remains of the original Romanesque structure. However, some vestiges have been found that suggest a simpler building. It belongs to the Diocese of Guarda.
