Tree protected by the Bordils town council since June 2, 1993.
It reaches 14 meters in height and is one of the oaks with the highest crown in Catalonia, with 27.30 meters supported on a short but strong trunk of 3.75 meters in circumference.
The aim was to choose a tender and dominant oak that was in a place where migratory birds pass. The oak was worked until it was as symmetrical as possible and guided with ropes to avoid leaving holes in the crown. It was also pruned so that it was as tight as possible. Strategic windows were also opened, where the thrushes entered, intrigued by a call, which came from a person ambushed among the branches who imitated their cry or from a bird locked in a cage. Once inside they could no longer escape because they found themselves with a sticky trap, consisting of two branches of rush, wicker, .... tied in the shape of a cross and smeared with mistletoe that had been placed at different points on the tree. At the entrance, in contact with the mistletoe, the birds could no longer fly and fell to the ground.
