Castle remains on a 196m hill west of the village of Esponellà (Pla de l'Estany).
Documented since the 11th century, it was abandoned in the mid-17th century and later used as a farmhouse. It retains part of the walls, a 15th-century barbican, and cisterns, and has been excavated annually since the 1990s.
