01About the place
The spring in the Serra de les Salines mountains, at an altitude of about 1,350 m and surrounded by beech trees, in Maçanet de Cabrenys.
It is the highest spring in the area and also the coolest: 5 °C in August, according to local sources. Shepherds considered it the best water for escudella (a traditional Catalan stew); the old spring was about 50 m higher up.
