The Forat de la Lleixa Closa is a little-known cave located in the Sadernes area, in Alta Garrotxa (municipality of Sales de Llierca).
It is not a tourist cave or very large, but it has a lot of geological interest and above all an adventure point because it is in a fairly wild area.
It is in the area of limestone cliffs that are above the Sant Aniol d’Aguja valley, in very steep terrain typical of Alta Garrotxa. The name comes from the “lleixa” (a kind of ledge or rock balcony) where the entrance is located.
It is not a cavity that is easily found walking along a clear path.
That is why many people do not even know that it exists.
It is not a deep cave like an abyss, but rather,
a large hole or hollow open in the wall.
Formed in very eroded limestone.
It has a natural ledge in front that makes a brutal viewpoint over the valley.
What makes it special is the location hanging on the cliff.
The very wild atmosphere.
The views over Alta Garrotxa.
It is the kind of place that if you like caves, canals and hidden corners... puts a smile on your face.
