The Fuerte de Santa Elena, located near Biescas, in Huesca, is a military fortification that began to be built in the 16th century by order of Philip II, with the aim of defending the accesses to the Pyrenees and guarding the passage to France.
Expanded and rebuilt over the centuries, it stands out for its long defensive corridor partially excavated in the rock. It is currently declared a Site of Cultural Interest and preserves remains of its military past.
