The Hostal dels Trabucaires, located in the village of Les Illes, in Vallespir, is linked to different episodes in the history of the Pyrenees.
Its name evokes the 19th century trabucaires, associated with Carlism and banditry on both sides of the border. It is also worth remembering the role of this territory during the Civil War, when the Illes and its roads became a passageway for many republicans fleeing to France in 1939. A place where stories of bandits, the border and republican exile converge.
