Mas de l’Om (Ma’ de l’Om) is an old farmhouse in Ribelles, in one of the most isolated areas of the Alta Garrotxa region.
It was part of the scattered settlements that occupied these mountains for centuries. At the end of the 19th century, Ribelles still had around 150 inhabitants spread across some thirty buildings. Mas de l’Om withstood the severe depopulation of the 20th century and was one of the last houses in the area to remain inhabited: it was still occupied around 1958 and was definitively abandoned in the early 1960s. Today, its ruins are one of the remaining testaments to the vanished rural world of Ribelles.
