01About the place
A monument at the Coll de Manrella (710 m), overlooking the border, commemorates the passage into exile of President Lluís Companys and some 50,000 people in 1939.
It is the work of architect Santiago Boix (1979, inaugurated in 1981): a staircase crowned by a pyramidal wall. It was placed here because it is more accessible than the nearby Coll de Lli, the pass through which Companys actually crossed.
