Pyrenees Line Observatory 1, in Darnius, is part of the Line P defensive system, built during the post-war period to reinforce the border with France.
It is a large concrete observatory, integrated into the terrain, from where the surroundings and possible movements in this area of the Pyrenees were visually monitored.
