The Colomers Dam is a reservoir on the Ter River, located in the municipality of Colomers, which extends through the municipalities of Colomers and Foixà, in the Baix Empordà region.
It is a protected work as a cultural asset of local interest. It was built between 1963 and 1970, with the aim of irrigating the plain on the right side of the Ter and regulating the flow of the Rec del Molí.
The dam is 103 m wide, 18 m high and 1 Hm³ in capacity, with five large central gates and two smaller lateral gates, and a connecting channel with the Rec del Molí.
Curiously, despite being a modern work from 1970 designed to increase the irrigated area of the region, it has never been put into operation.
Regarding its natural environment, the Colomers dam is an important point for nesting or wintering of anatidae, herons, waders and anseriformes, with a notable diversity of plant communities, such as groves and willows.
