01About the place

Sant Miquel del Fai is one of the most spectacular and curious places in Catalonia.

It is located on the Bertí cliffs, above the Tenes river valley, in the municipality of Bigues i Riells del Fai (Vallès Oriental). What makes it unique is that the monastery is literally built inside and under a large rock cliff.

What it is like

The place combines a monastery, cliffs, caves and waterfalls.

Main elements:

Romanesque church of Sant Miquel

partially built into the rock.

Large natural cliff

a huge cave that protects the church.

Sant Miquel Cave

natural cavity with stalactites and stalagmites.

Tenes Waterfall

waterfall that can reach about 100 meters when the river is flowing strongly.

Cova de les Tosques

another cave crossed by excavated paths. Free admission, but prior reservation is required.
