01About the place

The House of Shells (Casa de las Conchas) is an urban palace built between the late 15th and early 16th centuries.

It is one of Salamanca's most emblematic buildings and is notable for its unique façade, decorated with more than 300 stone shells, a symbol associated with the Order of Santiago. Its architecture combines Gothic, Mudéjar, and Plateresque elements, reflecting the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Today, it houses a public library, and its beautiful interior courtyard is open to the public.
