Dating back to prehistoric times, between the 4th and 3rd millennia BC, a menhir stands in the area known as Pas de les Llebres.
This menhir is famous for the legend of "The Devil's Stone."
According to the legend, during the construction of the bridge of Céret, the architect, feeling unable to finish the project, made a pact with the devil. The pact consisted of selling his soul if the devil could complete the bridge before midnight. Although the devil agreed, as he was heading to Céret with the last stone, the clock struck twelve, and the devil vanished into hell, leaving the stone stuck in the ground, where it can still be seen today. This is why the bridge of Céret is missing a large stone from one of its buttresses.
