01About the place
A 17th-century defensive tower on a rocky hill east of the town of La Jonquera (Alt Empordà), built during the Thirty Years' War to guard the town's entrance.
Later, it served as the last station on Catalonia's optical telegraph line, and today it is a refuge on the GR 11 long-distance trail and the Camino de Santiago, managed by the Centre Excursionista Jonquerenc (Jonquera Hiking Club).
