01About the place
A fortified tower, also called Torre dels Carlins, stands atop a hill half a kilometer west of La Jonquera, overlooking the town and the valley.
Of uncertain origin, perhaps dating from the 17th or 18th centuries, it saw its greatest use during the Carlist Wars of the 19th century and formed part of the optical telegraph network. Restored in 1988, visitors can climb to its upper floor.
