In the Bastida mountain range, east of Rocabertí Castle (La Jonquera, Albera), lies the Esquerda de la Bastida, considered a Visigothic fortification, dating from immediately before the Middle Ages.
According to the Enciclopèdia Catalana, the Rocabertí crag may have had a watchtower linked to this complex, a hypothesis still awaiting excavation.
