01About the place
Former gold and arsenic mines near Sant Pere del Pla de l'Arca, in La Jonquera, close to Le Perthus.
They were mined in the early 20th century by the Belgian Gascar brothers until they were mobilized for the First World War. Since 2001, the main gallery, closed off with a metal door, has housed seismic measuring instruments, so entry is prohibited.
