The bronze statue of Pope Benedict XIII (also known as Papa Luna) stands in the courtyard of Peñíscola Castle.
Unveiled in November 2007, it weighs approximately 700 kilograms and depicts the pontiff seated solemnly on his throne. It was erected in honor of Benedict XIII to commemorate the 600th anniversary of his election as Pope in 1394, paying tribute to the historical figure who made the castle his papal seat and left an indelible mark on the town's identity.
