01About the place
The House of Shells is an iconic house in Peñíscola's old town whose façade is completely covered with thousands of native seashells.
It was built in 1961 by Justa Mir and Isidro Marimón, who obtained the shells by trading them for tobacco with local fishermen. Although it is private property and not open to the public, its unique design has made it one of the most photographed spots on the way to the castle.
